Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the muffler and exhaust extension.

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Remove bolts (3), elbow (2), and exhaust coupling (1) from the turbocharger.

- Loosen hose clamps (4) and (5) .

- Disconnect oil supply tube assembly (6) and oil drain tube assembly (9) from the turbocharger.

- Remove nuts and bolts (8). Remove turbocharger (7) and the gasket from the exhaust manifold and the two hoses.
Installation Procedure
Note: Check the condition of the gasket and the condition of the seals before you reinstall the parts. Install a new gasket and new seals, if necessary.

- Put the gasket in position of the exhaust manifold. Install the two hoses on the turbocharger and place turbocharger (7) in position on the exhaust manifold. Install bolts (8) .
- Connect oil drain tube assembly (9) to the turbocharger. Connect oil supply tube assembly (6) to the turbocharger.
- Tighten hose clamps (4) and (5) .

- Install exhaust coupling (1), elbow (2), and bolts (3) .
