Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the carrier of the second reduction planetary component. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive - Remove".

  2. Remove the rear axle shafts. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Remove".

  1. Use a suitable hoist to position carrier (1) of the first reduction planetary component on a suitable bench.

    Note: Each planetary gear consists of matched components. The components must not be mixed with other planetary gears. During the disassembly, identify all the components for assembly purposes. The components of the planetary gears are serviced as matched sets.

  2. Remove two bolts (2) and plate (3).

  3. Remove shims (4).

  4. Use a suitable press to remove shaft (6).

  5. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for three remaining planetary gears (5).

  6. Slide planetary gears (5) out of the carrier. The planetary gear weighs approximately 15 kg (33.1 lb).

  7. Place planetary gear (5) on a suitable bench.

  8. Remove cone (7) and cone (10).

  9. Use a suitable press to remove cup (8), retaining ring (9), and cup (11) from planetary gear (5).

  10. Repeat Steps 8 and 9 for three remaining planetary gears (5).

  11. Use Tool (A) and a suitable hoist to position carrier (14) of second reduction planetary component on a suitable bench.

  12. Remove two bolts (15) and plate (16).

  13. Remove shims (17).

  14. Use a suitable press to remove shaft (19).

  15. Repeat Steps 12 through 14 for three remaining planetary gears (18).

  16. Slide planetary gears (18) to the center of the carrier. Use a suitable hoist to remove planetary gears (18). The planetary gears weigh approximately 15 kg (33.1 lb).

  17. Place planetary gears (18) on a suitable bench.

  18. Remove cone (20), cone spacer (22), and cone (25).

  19. Use a suitable press to remove cup (21), spacer (23), retaining ring (24), and cup (26) from planetary gear (18).

  20. Repeat Steps 18 and 19 for three remaining planetary gears (18).
