Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Release the air system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Tanks (Brake) - Purge".

In order to prevent possible personal injury, release the air pressure from the air tank before disconnecting any components of the air system.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

1. Remove four bolts (1) and the washers.

2. Lift the air control valve, the plate and the pedal assembly as a unit from the floor of the cab.

3. Disconnect hose assembly (2) from elbow (3).

4. Disconnect hose assembly (4) from elbow (5).

5. Remove elbow (3), elbow (5) and connector (6) from air control valve (7).

6. Remove two bolts (9) and the hard washers in order to remove plate (8) and the pedal assembly from air control valve (7).

Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the installation procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

Note: Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant to the threads of elbow (3), elbow (5) and connector (6).

1. Use two bolts (9) and the hard washers in order to install plate (8) and the pedal assembly to air control valve (7).

2. Install elbow (3), elbow (5) and connector (6) to air control valve (7), as shown.

3. Connect hose assembly (4) to elbow (5).

4. Connect hose assembly (2) to elbow (3).

5. Use four bolts (1) and the washers to install the air control valve, the plate, and the pedal assembly as a unit to the floor of the cab.

6. Charge the pressure in the air tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Starting with an External Air Supply" for the correct procedure.

End By:

1. Install the cab front plate. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Plate (Cab Front) - Remove and Install".

2. Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chocks (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
