Assembly Procedure

1. Clean the components and inspect the components of the winch control metering pump for wear or damage.

Note: Do not put the gasket material on the surface of mounting adapter (15) that comes in contact with the gears.

2. Lightly coat the finished surface of mounting adapter (15) with No. 3 Permatex.

   Note: Make sure that mounting adapter (15) is in the correct alignment with pump body (11) .

3. Put pump body (11) in position on mounting adapter (15). Make sure that the dowels on the pump are fully engaged with the holes in the mounting adapter.

4. Put clean hydraulic oil on the gear bores in pump body (11). Put clean oil on the faces of drive gear (13) and driven gear (14) also.

5. Carefully install drive gear (13) and driven gear (14) in pump body (11). Do not drop the gears in place.

6. Install seal (17), gasket (16) and diaphragm (12) in cover plate assembly (10) .

7. Put clean hydraulic oil on diaphragm (12). Put cover plate assembly (10) in position on pump body (11). Make sure that the dowels on the pump body are fully engaged with the holes on the cover plate assembly. Make sure that the pump body is correctly aligned with the cover plate assembly.

8. Install eight bolts (9). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 36 ± 2 N·m (27 ± 1 lb ft).

9. Put shaft (7) on the splined shaft of drive gear (13). Install spring pin (8) through both shafts.

10. Install O-ring seal (6) .

11. Install bearing carrier (5) onto the dowels in mounting adapter (15). Make sure that the ports in the mounting adapter and the bearing carrier are in alignment.

12. Install three bolts (4). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 36 ± 2 N·m (27 ± 1 lb ft).

13. Install the key in the shaft if the key was removed. Install gear (3). Install nut (2) in order to hold the gear in place.

14. Install three O-ring seals (1) .

End By: Install the winch control metering pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Winch Control Metering Pump - Install".
