Start By:

  1. Remove the main drive shaft.
  2. Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the oil from torque divider (2) into a suitable container. Disconnect hoses (1) and remove the screen.

  1. Disconnect two hose assemblies (3) from the torque divider.

  1. Remove elbow (4) with the O-Rings and sleeve (5) .

  1. Disconnect two cooler lines (6) and remove clips (7) .

  1. Remove strap (8) .

    Typical example

  1. Install Tooling (A) and (B). The weight of the torque divider is 140.7 Kg (310 lb).

  1. Remove 12 bolts (9) and bracket (10). Lower the torque divider to the floor and remove the torque divider.
