Air/Hydraulic Cylinder (Front Brake) - Remove

Usage:

785C 1HW

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Install the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".

  2. Release the pressure from the air system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Tanks (Brake) - Purge".

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

------ WARNING! ------

The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.

At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.

Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.

------ WARNING! ------

In order to prevent possible personal injury, release the air pressure from the air tank before disconnecting any components of the air system.

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Note: Put identification marks on all hose assemblies, on all tube assemblies and on all wire harnesses for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to prevent contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Drain the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is 420 L (111 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Hoist, Torque Converter and Brake Tank Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.
