(1) The rubber toric seals and all surfaces that contact the seals must be clean and dry before assembly. Prior to assembly, apply a thin film of oil to the contacting surfaces of the metal seal rings. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore and the toric ring. Bulging or twisting of the seal ring should not occur. Refer to Special Instruction, SEHS8463, "Installation Of Conventional Duo-Cone Seals".
(2) When the assembly is complete, fill each hub to the plug level with 2P-9869 Oil (SAE 30W). Oil volume when the oil has reached the plug level. ... .350 L (0.370 qt)
(3) Apply 8C-8422 Sealant to the end of hub between the cover and the hub.
(4) Install the bolts in alternate holes on both sides.
Procedure for Installation of the Lever

- Install bearing (5) into the bore of the frame. The bearing should be recessed by 1 ± .5 mm (0.04 ± 0.02 inch).
- Install bearing (6) into the bore of the cap.
- Apply a thin oil film in the diameter of the counterbore of the frame. Also, apply a thin oil film in the diameter of the counterbore of the cap.
- Install seal (7) in the counterbores. The sharp edge of the seal should extend out of the counterbores. The rings of the seal assembly must be fully assembled. There should be no oil between the rings of the seal assembly. The seal assembly must contact the bottom of the counterbore.
- Install thrust ring (8) into the cap and onto the top side of the lever.
- Install lever (9) into the frame.
- Install cap (10) onto the roller frame.
- Align the front idler with the reaction pad of the frame. Tighten setscrew (11) to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).
- Tighten nuts (12) to a torque of 160 ± 15 N·m (120 ± 11 lb ft).
