Fuel Tank - Install

Usage:

769D 5SS

Installation Procedure

  1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

  2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  3. Attach a suitable lifting device to the fuel tank, as shown. Secure the lifting device to a hoist.

  4. Position the fuel tank on the frame assembly. The weight of the fuel tank is 236 kg (520 lb).

  5. Install U-bolt (13), two nuts (14) and the hard washers. Repeat this procedure for the remaining U-bolt. Do not tighten nuts (14) at this time.

  6. Install chassis wire harness (12) through the rear of the fuel tank. Ensure that the electrical connector exits the opposite side of the fuel tank.

  7. Connect float sender wiring harness (11) to chassis wire harness (12) at the electrical connection.

  8. Insert float sender wiring harness (11) and the electrical connector in the fuel tank, as shown.

  9. Install two mountings (9). Install the bolt, the hard washer and locknut (10). Tighten all mounting bolts and nuts at this time.

  10. Connect two hose assemblies (7) and (6) to the fuel tank.

  11. Turn ball valve (8) to the ON position.

  12. Install two clips (5), the hard washers and two bolts (4).

  13. Install a new tie strap (2) that is located behind fuel tank (3) on the inside of the frame assembly, as shown.

  14. Apply 5P-3413 Pipe Sealant on pipe plug (1). Install pipe plug (1) to the bottom of the fuel tank.

  15. Fill the fuel tank. Prime the fuel system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System - Prime" for the correct priming procedure.

End By:

  1. Remove the retaining ring and pin (body). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Retaining Ring and Pin (Body) - Remove and Install".
