Start Relay |
The start relay is an output of the transmission electronic control module (ECM). The activation and deactivation of the start solenoid is the purpose of the start relay. The start solenoid controls the starting motor. When the operator turns the key start switch to the START position, the ECM checks that all the starting conditions are satisfied. a signal from the + battery is sent by the ECM in order to activate the start relay. The operator must also have the direction switch in the NEUTRAL position. Refer to System Operation, "Transmission Electronic Control Operation" for more information about "Neutral Start Operation".
The start relay has a connector with two contacts. One contact receives power from connector contact J1-8 of the ECM. The other contact returns to connector J2-3 of the ECM.
Terminal 3 of the start relay connects to a +battery source. Terminal 4 connects to the start solenoid.
Brake Lamp Relay

Brake Lamp Relay |
The brake lamp relay is used by the ECM to turn ON the brake lamps. The operator presses the brake pedal, and the ECM receives a signal. The ECM then activates the brake lamp relay or the ECM deactivates the brake lamp relay. The brake lamp relay receives power from connector J2-19 of the ECM. The other contact returns to connector J1-7 and connector J2-3.
