The transmission oil pump is a gear type pump that contains three sections. The pump is mounted on the right side of the bevel gear case. Gear (2) , gear (4) , and gear (6) are driven by an auxiliary drive shaft from the engine. Gear (2) turns idler gear (10) . Gear (4) turns idler gear (9) . Gear (6) turns idler gear (8) .

During operation, oil from the bevel gear case enters section (A) of the pump. The oil enters the section through a passage in body (3) . The oil fills the space between the gear teeth. The gears turn and oil is sent through another passage in body (3) . This oil supplies the steering clutch and brake control valve. This oil also supplies the transmission control valves.

Oil from the bevel gear case also enters section (B) of the pump through a passage in body (5) . The oil fills the space between the gear teeth. The gears turn and the oil is sent through another passage in body (5) . This oil supplies the torque converter. This oil also provides cooling and lubrication for the steering clutches and brakes and the transmission.

Oil from the torque converter housing and the transmission case flows through screens. The oil flows to section (C) of the pump through a passage in manifold (1) . The oil is pumped through another passage in manifold (1) to the bevel gear case.
