Usage:
CHALLENGER 45 (1DR, ABF, 3BK, 4KW, 4YL),
CHALLENGER 55 (7DM, 6NN, AEN, 7TZ, 3SM) AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS
Problem:
There have been reports of reaction arm bearing failures. Root cause diagnosis has been difficult, as the bearings are usually completely destroyed.
Solution:
The most likely cause of failure is the lack of lubrication of the bearing during operation. Oil may leak out of the cavity while the machine is not in use for an extended period of time. Until a definite root cause is determined, continue to use the 1000 hour maintenance check. Refer to the "Maintenance Interval Schedule" that is outlined in the operation and maintenance manual. In applications where less than 1000 hours are logged during a season, check the oil level before using the Challenger agricultural tractor for spring or fall field work.
