Description of Change: The left and right hand side exhaust tubes have been redesigned for improved durability on the 3412E Engines used to power to the above off-highway trucks.

Adaptable To: The following chart and illustrations show the parts that will need to be ordered in order to update the exhaust system. All other parts are currently on the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the current exhaust tubes and mounting hardware. (Keep the bolts and the washers to re-use for the new installation.)

2. Install 163-1434 Tube Assembly (2) to the left side of the engine (see Illustration 1) using the following hardware:

* One 148-0974 Bracket As. (5)

* One 7X-7910 Clip (9)

* One 7X-7911 Clip (10)

* One 2K-4973 Locknut (6)

* One 0S-1619 Bolt (8)

* One 2M-8545 Spacer (7)

* Two 5P-1075 Washers (4)

* Re-use two 9B-7237 Bolts (A) and two 5P-1075 Washers (4) in order to mount Bracket Assembly (5) to the engine.

3. Install 163-1435 Tube Assembly (12) to the left side of the engine (see Illustration 2) using the following hardware:

* One 148-0974 Bracket As. (5)

* One 148-0973 Bracket As. (11)

* One 7X-7910 Clip (9)

* One 7X-7911 Clip (10)

* One 2K-4973 Locknut (6)

* One 0S-1619 Bolt (8)

* One 2M-8545 Spacer (7)

* Two 5P-1075 Washers (4)

* Re-use two 9B-7237 Bolts (A) and two 5P-1075 Washers (4) in order to mount Bracket Assembly (11) to the engine.
