Use Special Care With 143-3629 O-Ring Seals {1071}

Usage:

793 (3SJ),
793B (1HL),
793C (4AR) Off-Highway Trucks

Reference: Service Magazine; June 23, 1997; "Improved Turbocharger Air Lines Group Reduces Boost Leaks"

The 143-3629 O-Ring Seal was announced in the Reference Article. This O-ring seal is used on the air lines between the turbocharger air outlet and the aftercooler air inlet on the 3516 and 3516B Engines in these trucks. This black, 76.5 mm (3 in) diameter O-ring seal looks and feels like other Caterpillar O-ring seals made from nitrile rubber, but, the 143-3629 O-Ring Seal is made from Kalrez®, a very special heat resistant material needed in this application. The 143-3629 O-Ring Seal is much, much more expensive than similar Caterpillar nitrile O-ring seals. As a result, dealers and customers should handle and install the 143-3629 O-Ring Seal carefully to avoid accidental loss, or damage to the seal.
