Production Process Change Eliminates Anti-Rotation Retaining Pin In Rear Wheel Station For Certain Off-Highway Trucks {4208,4234}

Description of Change: The use of laser hardened or laser clad spindles has eliminated requirement of the retaining pin (dowel) in the Wheel Group. The 106-9612 Retaining Pin has been eliminated in the assembly process in production and Reman operations. The spindle bearing journal areas where the wheel bearings fit must be laser hardened or laser clad to a minimum of Rockwell C 45 hardness.
NOTE: It is not recommended to remove the 106-9612 Retaining Pin from the final drive assembly if the laser hardened or laser clad area does not meet Rockwell C 45 hardness.
