The above OM&M incorrectly recommends that the water separator be drained every 50 service hours or weekly. It is recommended that the water separator be drained every ten service hours or daily.
Some fuel injection pumps have been encountered with rust and internal corrosion. Draining the water separator every ten service hours or daily will keep water from entering the fuel system, its components and causing damage.
