Description of Change: An improved articulation gauge and sender is now used on motor graders.
Adaptable To: The new 149-1115 Indicator Assembly and 149-1116 Sender are direct replacements for the former 124-0395 Indicator Assembly and 3E-5383 Sender and are effective with 120H (6TM388, 4MK460, 5FM999, 9YR343, 2AN118, 6NM238, 3GR1), 135H (7MM250, 3YK292, 8WN420), 12H (5ZM299, 4XM1564, 4ER525, 8MN521, 2GS364, 2WR691, 2LR270), 140H (8JM289, 2ZK2797, 5HM1299, 9TN531, 3AS460, 9ZN232, 8KM358, 3FR1), 143H (1AL465), 160H (9JM351, 9EJ546, 2FM448, 3GM85, 2HS383, 6WM330), 163H (5AK162), 14H (7WJ827), and 16H (6ZJ414, 3JR1) Motor Graders. The new sender and indicator assembly are adaptable to earlier machines with the following procedures.
NOTE: Both the sender and the indicator assembly must be replaced if adapting an earlier machine.
Sender Replacement:
1. Center the machine frame and lock the frame with the pin loose in the hole.
2. See illustration. Remove the existing sender (2) by removing the nut (3) on the stud on the plate assembly (4).
3. Check the stud on the plate assembly (4) to ensure a quality fillet weld. Replace with new 123-3689 Plate Assembly if necessary.
4. Replace former sender with the new 149-1116 Sender. Hand tighten the nut (3) on the stud.
5. Center the mechanical linkage with 127-8073 Alignment Gauge and connect a digital volt ohm meter to the sender leads.
6. With the alignment tool in place and the ohm meter connected, turn the sender until the meter reads 88 to 92 ohms.
7. Tighten nut (3) to 38 - 56 N·m (28 - 41 lb ft).
Gauge Replacement:
1. Remove (8) Torx head cap screws on dash bezel.
2. Remove (4) Torx head cap screws on quad gauge cluster.
3. Remove cluster from the dash by removing philips screws from the back of the cluster and remove the lens.
4. Using the etraction tool provided with the new 149-1115 Gauge, remove the existing gauge and assemble the new gauge.
5. Assemble parts previously removed.
6. Start unit and verify proper adjustment. Gauge should be centered.
