New Engine Arrangements For High And Low Altitude Applications {1000}

Usage:

793C (4AR) Off-Highway Trucks

Description of Change: Two new engine arrangements are available to replace the former engine arrangement in the above machines powered by 3516B Engines. One of the new engine arrangements is designed for low altitude applications. The other new engine arrangement is designed for high altitude applications. The new low altitude engine arrangement has a new low pressure turbocharger with an improved turbine wheel. The new turbine wheel has a longer service life.

Adaptable To: The new 147-0793 and 147-0840 Basic Engine Arrangements replace the former 100-8093 Basic Engine Arrangement.

Each new engine arrangement is designed for a specific altitude range. See Chart 1. Do NOT operate the low altitude engine above 9 000 ft. Do NOT operate the high altitude engine below 8 000 ft.

NOTICE

If a 793C Engine is operated out of the altitude range, the low pressure turbocharger could have a shortened service life.

NOTE: The altitude range for each engine arrangement overlaps in order to provide maximum flexibility in selecting the appropriate engine arrangement in the 8 000 to 9 000 ft range.

See the following charts for components, effectivity, and adaptability.

NOTE: The only difference between the 147-0793 and 147-0840 Basic Engine Arrangement parts list is the turbocharger groups. See Chart 2.

NOTE: The 138-2305 Turbocharger Group (high pressure) is used in all three engine arrangements.
