The "Note" that states a 24 volt supply is incorrect. The proper statment is:
NOTE: The existing transmission chassis harness has a wire to supply the 10 volt DC power to the new 127-4646 Control Group.
--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------
Description of Change: A new control group (actual gear switch) is now used in the transmission hydraulic control group. The new switch uses noncontacting technology (Hall effect). The former control was a sliding contact type control. In some instances, the contacts would wear or make intermittent contact which could keep the transmission from shifting properly.
Adaptable To: The new 127-4646 Control Group is effective with D250E (5TN282) and D300E (7FN230) Articulated Trucks. The new 127-4646 Control Group can be used to replace the former 6V-5828 Control Group on earlier machines when used with a new 120-9288 Harness Assembly. The new 120-9288 Harness Assembly replaces the former 7T-3418 Harness Assembly. The new harness assembly will supply the 24 volt DC power to the new control group.
Use the following method to install the new 127-4646 Control Group and 120-9288 Harness Assembly.
NOTE: The existing transmission chassis harness has a wire to supply the 24 volt DC power to the new 127-4646 Control Group.
1. Disconnect the bulkhead connector between the transmission switch harness assembly and the transmission chassis harness assembly.
2. Remove the existing 6V-5828 Control Group and 7T-3418 Harness Assembly.
3. Install the 127-4646 Control Group and 120-9288 Harness Assembly.
