The new Electronic Programmable Transmission Control (EPTC II) is directly adaptable to any earlier machine with the ICM transmission. It can be installed in place of the former EPTC Transmission Control, and will operate the transmission in the same manner as the EPTC Control, with some improvement in shifting performance because of the improved software in EPTC II.

To take full advantage of the diagnostics in EPTC II, the Set and Clear switches can be added to earlier machines, as described in the Special Instructions listed above.

Certain functions, such as the body-up gear limit on OHTs are available on earlier machines only if the associated harnesses, switches, etc, are also added.

The Special Instructions describe the converting of the shift solenoid valves to the later spool-type valves, and installing the latest speed sensor. These changes are not required when retrofitting the EPTC II Control, but will provide additional improvement in shifting performance and reliability. It is recommended that these updates also be installed, but the EPTC II Control will work correctly with or without them.
