Usage:
Caterpillar Machines Powered By 3508, 3512, Or 3516 Machine Engines
Description of Change: A new sleeve bearing is used in the camshaft idler gear assembly in the rear gear groups in 3500 Machine Engines. The new sleeve bearing has a 0.07 mm (.003 in) larger outside diameter than the former bearing. This provides an increased interference fit between the outside diameter of the sleeve bearing and the inside diameter of the idler gear. This will result in the bearing being better retained in the camshaft idler gear assembly.
112-1554 Camshaft Idler Gear Assembly (1). 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing (2). Dimension (A) = 81.060 ± 0.010 mm (3.1913 ± .0004 in). Dimension (B) = 1.00 ± 0.25 mm (.039 ± .010 in)
Adaptable To: The new 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing replaces the former 101-1374 Sleeve Bearing in the 112-1554 Camshaft Idler Gear Assembly. Current 112-1554 Camshaft Idler Gear Assemblies include the new 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing. Chart A identifies the groups that include the 112-1554 Camshaft Idler Gear Assembly. Chart B lists the effectivity of the new 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing.
If a new 112-1554 Camshaft Idler Gear Assembly is used, the inside diameter of the installed new 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing has been machined to the correct dimension. If only the former 101-1374 Sleeve Bearing is being replaced with a new 125-9751 Sleeve Bearing:
-
- 1. The new sleeve bearing must be installed to the depth shown as Dimension (B).
- 2. The inside diameter of the installedsleeve bearing must be machined to Dimension (A).
