Description of Change: A new front gear group is used in the 3114 and 3116 Machine Engines in the above machines. The new group includes a new upper idler gear, upper idler gear shaft, a thrust plate, and new bolts to fasten the new shaft and thrust plate to the cylinder block. These changes will provide improved load carrying capability for the high hydraulic pump loads applied to the front gear train of these engines.
Adaptable To: The new 115-4175 Front Gear Group is a direct replacement for the former 2W-8475 Front Gear Group in the 3114 and 3116 engines used in the above machines. The illustration and Chart A identify the components of the new and former front gear groups.
Chart B identifies the effectivity of the new 115-4175 Front Gear Group. The new components, when used together, are adaptable to all earlier 3114 and 3116 Machines Engines in these machines.
In some cases, the former 2W-8476 Gear Assembly could wear a groove into the front surface of the cylinder block. In such cases, is is NOT necessary to replace the cylinder block. Instead, use a grinder to remove any metal protruding from the front surface of the block at the edge of the worn area (make the block surface flat). Then, install the new parts. The flat hardened 113-6069 Plate (thrust washer) will cover the worn area, so the cylinder block can be reused.
