Usage:
AP-200 (6AD),
AP-200B (2NK) Asphalt Pavers
A new replacement screed plate is now available for repairing a worn screed assembly. The new L-shaped screed plate has a curved radius on the leading edge. The new plate is installed using the following instructions.
The new 121-9234 Screed Plate replaces the former 077-7991 Wear Plate. The installation of the former 077-7991 Wear Plate required that the leading edge was welded the full length and that the edge was extensively ground. The procedure was necessary to make sure there was a smooth curved edge to achieve a good mat surface.
The new screed plate is adaptable to all AP-200 (6AD), AP-200B (2NK) Asphalt Pavers.
Replacement Procedure
Illustration 1.
1. Grind the leading edge of the plate portion of the screed assembly to make sure of a close fit between the screed assembly and the inside radius of the replacement screed plate.
2. Check the wear pattern of the original screed wear surface. If the wear is uneven, use shims between this surface and the replacement plate to make sure the replacement plate is flat.
3. Align the replacement plate under the screed assembly. Starting at the center, tack weld the front leg and trailing edge of the plate to the existing screed frame. (Note that the plate weight is 56.50 kg/124.3 lbs.)

4. Use a 6 mm (.25 in) fillet weld bead in 50 mm (2.0 in) lengths. Each weld bead should be on 150 mm (6.0 in) centers intermittently along the entire plate length. Weld on both the front and the rear edges. Use a weld procedure that minimizes heat distortion.
