Air Ride Seat Suspension Retrofit{7307}

Usage:

Challenger 65 &
65B (7YC),
Challenger 65C (2ZJ),
Challenger 70C (2YL),
Challenger 75 (4CJ),
Challenger 75C (4KK),
Challenger 85C (9TK) Agricultural Tractors

An air suspension group is now available for all Challenger models. Formerly, only a complete seat group was serviceable. This provides a more economical retrofit package for standard seats in older models, in that the actual seat and mounting brackets from the existing seats can be reused.

The air suspension provides improved operator comfort, ride, and ease of adjustment from operator to operator. The suspension group is 112-4039. This group may be installed using the following procedure:

1. Disassemble upper seat assembly from suspension group at just below the slider mechanism by removing 4 bolts (item 2). These bolts are loctited and may be hard to remove. Replace these bolts if necessary.

2. Remove suspension group from lower mounting brackets. Lower mounting brackets are bolted to the cab floor.

3. Install upper seat assembly to 112-4039 Suspension Group. Orient the suspension group so that the electrical connector is towards the rear of the cab. Retrieve spacers (item 1) from the standard seat group and use them on top of the existing threaded spacers. These threaded spacers are welded to the top of the suspension group. DAMAGE OF INTERNAL COMPONENTS WILL RESULT IF THESE SPACERS ARE NOT USED. The bolts (item 2), when used on the 112-4039 Suspension Group, are long enough to cause internal damage to the seat. The spacers must be used to accommodate for the extra bolt length and eliminate the possibility of internal damage.

4. Mount the upper seat assembly to the lower mounting brackets. To help with bolt hole alignment, loosen bolts that secure the mounting brackets to the floor. Be sure to tighten these when finished.

Electrical Wiring

65 and 65B Series Challengers

A wiring harness (using 16 gauge wire) is to be fabricated to power the compressor for 65 & 65B series models. Use the 2-pin Deutch connector plug to connect the wires to the seat.

Power and ground (gnd) can be interchanged on the seat end of the wiring harness. The compressor will pump air regardless of power and ground positions. The suggested power source is the auxilliary power terminals in the dash fuse panel (located on the left-hand side of the front console). Use a switched terminal. Make sure that a 15 amp fuse is in that circuit.

C Series Challengers

1. Make sure that the 9U-4856 Harness Assembly has an 8M-8948 Fuse (15 Amp) instead of a 3K-8782 Fuse (10 Amp). Replace fuse if necessary.

2. Locate the rear wiper fuse in the dash panel. Replace existing 15 Amp fuse with a 9W-1446 Fuse (20 Amp).

3. Plug a 9U-4856 Harness into the cab harness in the lower rear right hand corner of the cab. Plug the other end into the seat harness.

The 112-4039 Suspension Group replaces 104-3261 Suspension Group which has been canceled. The 9U-4541 Seat Group should only be ordered if an entire seat group is desired.
