Procedure For Tightening Tapered Vertical Hitch Pins {7113,7100}

The following procedure should be used to tighten the 104-9715 (D20D, D250D, D300D) or 105-4079 (D25D, D30D, D350D D40D, D400D) Hitch Pins used on the articulated trucks with tapered hitch pins.

Parts Location. 1D-4614 Bolt (1). 104-9715 or 105-4079 Hitch Pin (2). 2U-5171 Screw (3). 7X-0448 Nut (4).

1. Tighten bolt (1) to 370 ± 50 N·m (275 ± 35 lb ft).

2. Use a soft hammer to hit hitch pin (2) on Face (A). Tighten bolt (1) to 370 ± 50 N·m 275 ± 35 lb ft).

3. Repeat Step 2 until hitting the face of the pin no longer reduces the torque on bolt (1).

4. Turn bolts (3) in far enough by hand to take up any excessive clearance. Tighten nuts (4) to 225 to 250 N ·m (170 to 190 lb ft).
