Reference: This article supersedes the article with the title "New Magnetic Sensor With Improved Sealing Capabilities Used In Speedometer Group" on Page 9 of the August 13, 1990 Service Magazine.
Description of Change: A new magnetic sensor with an improved shell and potting compound is used. The new sensor has a blind end shell to prevent potting compound movement and minimize wire breakage. A new grommet is also used which prevents moisture from entering the sensor. The potting compound used in the former sensor could separate from the shell. When this happened, wire breakage and contamination to the sensor could cause the sensor to fail.
Adaptable To: The new 9X5393 Magnetic Sensor replaces the former 6T9688 Magnetic Sensor (not canceled). This change is effective with 776B (6JC84) Tractors; 910E (1SF212, 1YK275) Loaders; IT12B (1KF161), IT14B (3NJ151) Toolcarriers; 777B (4YC1356), 785 (8GB415), 789 (9ZC426) Trucks, and is adaptable to first production.
NOTE: The electrical specifications on the new sensor are identical to the former sensor.
