Correct Installation Of Brake Piston Seals{4251}

Usage:

AP-1200 Asphalt Pavers

This article supersedes the article with the same title in Service Magazine; November 6, 1989; Page 8.

Use this article to correctly install the brake piston seals in the differential brake assembly on AP-1200 Asphalt Pavers.

NOTE: If the axle is equipped with a parking brake, it is possible to install the pistons incorrectly (backwards). Place identification marks on the pistons PRIOR to their removal.

With the piston face down, install the larger 8C7426 Seal (1) with the lip facing up. Looking toward the brake end of the axle housing, the lip of the seal should face toward you. To install the smaller 8C7427 Seal (2), the lip should face toward the front of the piston. See the illustrations.
