Description of Change: A new differential and bevel gear group is used that contains a new bevel gear group. A new tooth design provides tip relief for the pinion and bevel gear which increases the service life of the differential and bevel gear group.

Adaptable To: The new 8X7240 Differential & Bevel Gear Group is a direct replacement for the former 8W9550 Differential & Bevel Gear Group. The former differential & bevel gear group has been canceled. The new differential and bevel gear group is effective with 789 Truck 9ZC489. The complete differential and bevel gear group does NOT need to be replaced on earlier trucks. The new 8X7231 Bevel Gear Group is a direct replacement for the former 8W9485 Bevel Gear Group. The former bevel gear group has been canceled. The two new groups are adaptable to earlier trucks.
