345/B/C, 365/B/C, 385/B/C PPR2 LINK ASSEMBLIES AND CAST IDLERS

Positive pin retention grease lubricated track link assembly and Cast Idlers for higher
impact applications are now available in the parts system for 345/B/C, 365/B/C, 385/B/C. Both parts are also available on the price list for C-series machines.

This new link assembly has the new positive pin retention system (PPR2), which increases track reliability over the sealed and greased lubricated track. The new positive pin retention system (PPR2) mechanically locks the pin to the link by displacing material from the link pin boss area to the pin groove during assembly. This controls endplay and eliminates pin walking in tough high impact applications. The link itself has been redesigned for improved strength and fatigue resistance. The new cast idler is a robust design that provides improved strength and is matched up with a new idler shaft with improved strength.

Adaptability

The new cast idler and link assembly are adaptable to all 345, 365, 385 machines in the field and available in the parts system. The cast idlers and link assemblies will be offered from the factory with the introduction of the ?D? series machines. The 385 size uses longer track bolts (301-2301) than the previous link assemblies. The 385 PPRII pins are 10mm shorter on each end, so either the existing track guides must be modified to move the guiding surface inboard 10mm, or all new track guides must be installed. Please refer to REHS2586 for modification instructions, or choose the proper new guard group from the chart below.

Servicing

? When installing link assembly on the machine, apply grease to the master-bushing bore prior to pressing in the pin. See list below to determine which grease to use.

? For service of the link assembly, the track pin is pressed out of the link assembly by shearing the material in the groove.

? When performing service on grease lubricated track link assemblies (turning pin and bushing, replacing components) refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin (SEBF8622) & REHS2586.

? During reassembly, the link is pressed onto the pin, and then by using the swaging tool in the track press, link material is swaged into the pin groove to mechanically lock the pin to the link.

When performing CTS, refer to the 16th edition of the CTS Handbook (media number PEKP9400-04). See list of pages in the following table for wear charts for the components listed.
