Relief Control Valve

Usage:

Remove And Install Relief Control Valve

1. Remove bolts (1) and (3) and "open" frame assembly (2) on the right hand side of the machine.

2. Put identification on the oil lines (4) for installation purposes.

3. Disconnect oil lines (4) from the relief control valve.

4. Remove bolts (6) and the relief control valve (5) from the transmission.

NOTE: The following steps are for installing the relief control valve.

5. Inspect O-ring seals and make necessary replacements.

6. Install relief control valve (5).

7. Connect oil lines (4) to the relief control valve.

8. "Close" the frame assembly (2) and install bolts (1) and (3).

Disassemble Relief Control Valve

Start By:

a. remove relief control valve

1. Remove cover (1) and O-ring seal behind the cover, if a replacement is necessary.

------ WARNING! ------

Cover (2) holds three springs under compression. Support cover (2) when the bolts are removed to prevent personal injury.

--------WARNING!------

2. Remove cover (2) and O-ring seals (3) from the valve body.

3. Remove valve assembly (4) and O-ring seal (5).

------ WARNING! ------

Retainer (9) holds spring (8) under compression. Support retainer (9) when spiral snap ring (10) is removed to prevent personal injury.

--------WARNING!------

4. Remove spiral snap ring (10), retainer (9), spring (8), poppet (7) and shims (11) from valve (6).

5. Remove cover (12) and the O-ring seal behind the cover.

6. Remove three springs (13), (14) and (15) from the valve body.

7. Remove two covers (16) from the valve body.

8. Remove two plugs (17) from the valve body. Remove the two O-ring seals from the plugs.

9. Remove two pins (18) that hold valve assemblies (19) in the valve body. Remove valve assemblies (19).

10. Remove two O-ring seals (20) from the valve body.

------ WARNING! ------

Pin (22) holds spring (23) in compression. Use the following procedure to prevent personal injury.

--------WARNING!------

11. Install tool (A) in the collar as shown.

12. Put the valve assembly in a vise as shown. Tighten the vise to release the pressure on pin (21). Use a hammer and a punch to remove pin (22) from the valve assembly and pin (21). Slowly open the vise to release the compression of spring (23).

13. Remove pin (21), retainer (24), spring (23), valve (25) and pin (22) from collar (26).

14. Repeat Steps 11 through 13 for the other valve assembly.

Assemble Relief Control Valve

1. Put valve (25) in position against collar (26). The side of the collar with the chamfer must be against the side of the valve with the chamfer. Put pin (21) in position through retainer (24). Put retainer (24) and spring (23) against valve (25).

2. Install tool (A) in collar (26). Put the valve assembly in a vise as shown. Use the vise to put spring (23) in compression. Tighten the vise until the hole in pin (22) is in alignment with the small hole in collar (26). Install pin (22) through collar (26) and pin (22). Pin (22) must not extend beyond the outer surface of collar (26).

3. Remove the valve assembly from the vise. Remove tool (A). Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the other valve assembly.

4. Install the two valve assemblies (19) in the valve body with the large hole (27) in the collar up as shown. Install pins (18) in the valve body so that the end of the pin goes through hole (27). Install the O-ring seals on plug (17) and install the plugs in the valve body. Put two O-ring seals (20) in position on the valve body.

5. Install springs (13), (14) and (15) in the valve body.

6. Install the O-ring seal in the valve body and install cover (12).

7. Install poppet (7), spring (8) and retainer (9) in valve (6). Install spiral snap ring (10) that holds retainer (9) in place.

8. Install shims (11) in the other end of valve (6).

9. Install valve (4) in the valve body as shown.

10. Install O-ring seal (5) and cover (2) over valve (4).

11. Install seven O-ring seals (3) on the back side of the valve body.

12. See Power Shift Transmission Testing And Adjusting, Form No. SENR3491, for the procedure for making adjustments to the relief control valve.

End By:

a. install relief control valve
