Usage:
Start By:
a. remove tandem housings
1. Remove spanner nut from shaft with tool (A).
2. Install a strap and hoist on each of the sprockets (1) and (2) and remove sprockets from the spindle shafts. The weight of the sprockets is 27 kg (60 lb.).
Install Drive Sprockets
1. Fasten a hoist to the sprocket and install sprocket (1) on the spindle shaft with the long side of hub away from the final drive.
2. Install sprocket (2) with the bolt holes toward the outside.
3. Install spanner nut. Install an axle in the differential and final drive.
4. Use tool (A) and the following procedure to get the correct preload on the final drive housing.
5. Rotate the shaft and hit the hub of sprocket (2) while tightening nut (3) with tool (A).
6. Tighten nut (3) until a torque of 18.08 ± 1.13 N·m (160 ± 10 lb.in.) above seal drag is required to rotate shaft.
7. Back off nut (3) one locking position and hit the hub of the sprocket again.
8. Final torque to rotate the shaft should be 8.47 ± 1.13 N·m (74.96 ± 10 lb.in.) above seal drag.
NOTE: One of the notches (4) in the spanner nut must be in alignment with a hole in the sprocket. Tighten the nut if necessary to get the nut and sprocket in alignment.
