Certain 0R3839 and 0R3840 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads used for G3500 Engines need to be inspected to determine if a 4P6925 Oil Sleeve has been installed in the center cam follower bore.
Parts Needed
- 1 4P6925 Sleeve (as required)
Action Required
Inspect all 0R3839 and 0R3840 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads in Parts Stock with date codes prior to December 1993 to determine if the 4P6925 Oil Sleeve has been installed in the center cam follower bore. The date code will be found either stenciled on the box in a format of MMYY (1293 = December 1993) or printed on the part number tag in a format of DDMMYYPP (01129368 = December 01, 1993, Plant 68).
All 0R3839 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads must have a center cam follower bore but some 0R3840 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads will not have this bore. 0R3840 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads without the center cam follower bore and all remanufactured cylinder heads with the oil sleeve installed should be returned to stock.
All 0R3839 and 0R3840 Remanufactured Cylinder Heads without the sleeve installed in the center cam follower bore need to have the sleeve installed. After the oil sleeve is installed, the remanufactured cylinder heads should be returned to stock. Refer to the attached rework procedure for inspection and oil sleeve installation instructions.

2. Shrink a new 4P6925 Sleeve by cooling it to a temperature of -60° C.
3. While the sleeve is still cold, press it into the bore from the bottom deck of the head until the wide land end of the sleeve is 16.5 ± 1.0 mm (.650 ± .004 inch).
