NOTE: The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4057" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
NOTE: This Revised Service Letter replaces the August 27, 1997 (Revised September 1997) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the TERMINATION DATE.

NOTE: Quantities are per truck. If one suspension cylinder leaks, both cylinders and the accumulator must be reworked at the same time to implement this program.
Action Required
Refer to the Service Manual as required. See the attached Illustrations.
Remove both front suspension cylinders. Disassemble and clean thoroughly.
Replace the existing 8C5220 Wiper Seal with a new 143-3673 Vented Wiper Seal.
Assemble the cylinders using new seals and new 1232246 Ball Joints.
Remove suspension accumulator, disassemble, clean & assemble using new seals.
Recharge suspension pressure & reset ride height refering to SENR8640.
NOTE: Precharge pressure should be 3620 - 3960 KPA (525 - 575 PSI) (Ref. Service Magazine Article 16OCT95)
Service Claim Allowances
NOTE: This is a 10-hour job to rework both cylinders and the accumulator.
