The lifting capacity of the 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group has been decreased to 50% of its original rated working load limit (WLL). The 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group was originally developed as a removal and installation tool for 785 and 789 differentials and other final drive components. Usage of the 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group was later expanded to include the 793. It has now been determined that some of the larger components exceed the WLL of the 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group.
Action Required
It is required that all dealers and users restamp all 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Groups with the decreased WLL. This will require restamping the weight capacities currently marked on the 8T3239 bracket assembly. The original weight capacity values should be removed by either carefully grinding off the original weight capacities (avoid all deep gouges) or by stamping over the original weight capacities so that they cannot be read. The new, decreased weight capacities should be located on the opposite side of the 8T3239 bracket assembly, directly across from the old values.
All 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Groups ordered through the parts system will be stamped with the lower WLL. All accessory brackets and adapters originally used with the 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group can be used for any component that does not exceed the decreased weight capacities restamped on the 8T3239 bracket assembly.
The new decreased weight capacity values are as follows:
The 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group will be canceled and replaced by a new lifting bracket group having a maximum WLL of at least 1158 Kg (2550 lbs), capable of lifting the 785, 789, and 793 differentials and other final drive components. All accessory brackets and adapters originally used with the 8T3238 Lifting Bracket Group and 8T3239 assembly can be used with the new lifting bracket group. This new lifting bracket is currently under development and will be available later this year.
