Two Hold-Down Plates Can Be Welded To Hydraulic Tank {5056}

Usage:

TSF-54, TSM-54 Vibratory Compactors

In some applications of TSF-54 and TSM-54 Vibratory Compactors, the hydraulic tank mounting studs can crack from vibrations. If this occurs, two hold-down plates can be welded to the tank and bolted to the frame to hold the tank more rigidly. See Illustration.

Location of hold-down plates for hydraulic tank.

Use the following procedure.

1. Drain the hydraulic oil from the tank.

2. Position a plate at each end of the tank so the plate makes contact with the tank and frame as shown. Clamp in place.

------ WARNING! ------

Applying heat to hydraulic oil tanks, even when "empty", can result in residual oil or vapor igniting with explosive force. This can result in personal injury or death. Do not weld or flame cut on any hydraulic tank without taking the proper safety precautions. Read the article "Welding On Fuel And Hydraulic Tanks" in the March 8, 1972 Service Magazine.

-------WARNING!-------

3. Weld both plates to the tank as shown.

4. Using the plates as a template, drill two 14.2 mm (.56") holes through the frame at each plate.

5. Install the hardware.

6. Fill tank with oil.
