Braces Added To Reduce Vibration Of Radiator {1353}

Usage:

PR-450 Pavement Profilers

Braces can be added to the upper radiator to reduce vibration on PR-450 Pavement Profilers (7DC204-341). The braces will have to be fabricated. Use the procedure and fabrication dimensions that follow to install the braces.

NOTE: These braces are effective on 7DC342-Up under part number 823017 (reference PR-450 Parts Book KEBP0069, page 148, item 66). This item is not currently available from parts.

Procedures For Installing Upper Radiator Braces

1. Stop the engine, remove the key from the ignition switch, and place a DO NOT OPERATE tag on the controls.

2. Fabricate two braces (2) and one plate (5) as shown in Illustration 1 and 2.

3. Using two 1/2"-16 bolts, fasten brace (2) to the right side of radiator (3) using existing holes in the radiator. The short end of the brace must rest against front engine cowling (4). See Illustration 4.

4. Using the slots in the brace as a guide, mark the bolt hole location on engine cowling (4).

5. Remove the brace from the radiator.

6. Drill and tap through the engine cowling for 3/8"-16 bolts.

7. Fasten plate (5) to the short end of (second) brace (2) using two 3/8"-16 bolts.

8. Using two 1/2"-16 bolts, fasten brace (2) along with plate (5) to the left (rear) side of radiator (3) using the existing bolt holes in the radiator. Plate (5) must rest against front engine cowling (4). See Illustration 5.

9. Mark the location of plate (5) on the engine cowling.

10. Remove the plate and brace from the radiator. Remove the plate from the brace.

11. Using the marks made on the engine cowling, weld plate (5) to the engine cowling.

12. Install the two braces (2) on each side of the radiator.

13. Install the engine side (front) cowling.
