Usage:
3412, 3408 and 3406 Industrial, Marine and Truck Engines
A 5P7333 Tool Group is now available for the repair of loose bridge dowels on the cylinder heads of the above engines (Illustration 1). The dowel holes are drilled and machined larger and then a 5P7324 Plug is installed (Illustration 2). The plug is then drilled and machined so the bridge dowels can be installed.
It is our recommendation that the cylinder head be removed from the engine when this repair is made. This will prevent contamination from chips and make it easier to control speeds and feeds if a drill press is used.
Extra tools needed for the repair of loose bridge dowels are as follows:
-
- 1. 0.531" (13.49 mm) diameter core drill.
- 2. 0.422" (10.72 mm) diameter drill.
- 3. 5P2406 Driver.
- 4. 5P3021 Lifter Bracket.
- 5. Two 6" or 8" C-clamps.
- 1. 0.531" (13.49 mm) diameter core drill.
