Description of Change: An improved watertight engine junction box assembly and improved watertight electronic box groups (ESS II - Vee and ESS II - Inline), are used on these engines. These engine junction box assembly and electronic box groups have been upgraded to meet National Electrical Manufactures Association (NEMA) Type 4 enclosure requirements. The following changes were made to prevent water from entering the junction box assembly and electronic box groups.
The method for sealing the junction box and electronic box groups door opening has been improved. The box opening has been changed to a rolled-lip design. This rolled-lip provides a channel that routes water away from the box opening. A flat sealing gasket on the door is crushed against the rolled-lip when the door is closed and latched to provide a watertight seal. In the electronic box groups, a third latch location at top center was added to the door assembly.
The single boss located at the top of the engine junction box assembly for installing a lifting eye has been removed and replaced with two lifting mounts, one on each side of the junction box assembly.
The rain shields, mentioned in the Reference Article are not required with the new watertight boxes. Customers without the new boxes will need to use the rain shields as defined in the Reference Article, for the engine junction box assembly and the electronic box groups.
Adaptable To: The improved watertight 122-0802 Engine Junction Box Assembly is used in 122-0803, 125-3904, and 141-6401 Junction Box Groups. The improved watertight 128-3857 Electronic Box Group (ESS II - Inline) is used in 129-1316 Control Panel Group. The improved watertight 128-3858 Electronic Box Group (ESS II - Vee) is used in 129-1317 Control Panel Group. The improved watertight boxes are in effect as listed in the chart. The improved boxes can be used to replace earlier boxes of the same part number.
