Change To 6V95 Socket; Modification Of Existing Sockets{0612}

Usage:

A 6V95 Socket and 6V96 Tee Wrench were released for use in adjustment of control valves on Series "G" Motor Graders. Later tests and field reports show that the outside diameter of the 6V95 Socket is too large to fit in the space around the adjustment nut on some machines. When the hex corner of an adjacent (next to) nut is toward the nut to be adjusted, the clearance for the socket is at a minimum. Because of factory tolerances in the control valves, this minimum clearance is not enough on some machines to permit use of the socket. To prevent this possible problem, the outside diameter of the 6V95 Socket has been changed from 42.9 mm (1.69") to 41.3 mm (1.63"). This change decreases the wall thickness of the socket, but will not cause it to break at the torque needed for this application. 6V95 Sockets made with the smaller outside diameter will be available soon through the Parts Department.

A similar modification can be made to existing sockets. Machine the outside diameter to 41.3 mm (1.63"). Since this will remove the part number, use metal stamps or other available method to put the "6V95" part number on the socket after the machine work is done.
