Usage:
NOTE: Clean the mating surfaces of the axle housing and of the service brake prior to installation. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
1. Make sure three O-ring seals (1) and O-ring seal (2) are in place on wheel assembly (3).
2. Install Tooling (C) on wheel assembly (2). Attach a hoist, Tooling (B), a suitable lifting sling and a suitable lifting chain to brake assembly (1) and Tooling (C), as shown.
3. Use the hoist to carefully install wheel assembly (3) and brake assembly (4). The combined weight of assemblies (3) and (4) is 480 Kg (1058 lb).
4. Install 24 nuts (5) and the washers. Tighten bolts (5) to a torque of 1000 ± 125 N·m (735 ± 90 lb ft).
5. Connect hose assemblies (6) and (7) to the wheel assembly.
6. Install Tooling (A) on final drive planetary carrier (8). Attach a hoist and a suitable lifting sling to Tooling (A).
7. Install O-ring seal (9) on planetary carrier (8).
8. Use the hoist to carefully install planetary carrier (8) on wheel assembly (3). The weight of the planetary carrier is 84 Kg (185 lb).
9. Install three bolts (10) and the washers that hold planetary carrier (8) to the wheel assembly. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 105 ± 20 N·m (77 ± 15 lb ft).
End By:
a. Install the axle shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Shaft - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
b. Purge the air from the braking system. For the correct procedure, refer to Testing and Adjusting for the machine that is being serviced.
c. Install the tire and the rim. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim Assemblies - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
