Governor Shimming Is Determined By The Governor Test Bench Calibration{1264,1289}

Usage:

3114, 3116, 3126 Industrial, Marine And Generator Set Engines

Reference: Service Manual Module SENR6454; Describes the governor spring preload measurement; Page 17.

The preload stated on the governor Technical Marketing Information (TMI) Specifications is a reference number only. The governor is not manufactured to meet this specification.

Governor shimming is determined by the governor test bench calibration. Governor spring shims are added to increase the HIGH idle screw extension.

Governor spring shims are removed to meet the function 4 (LOW idle lug) specification. If the governor is being rebuilt then the preload specification is a good starting point. It should also be noted that the HIGH and LOW idle screw may need to be adjusted when a new governor is installed on an engine.
