New Alternator Group Used In Charging Alternator Groups

Usage:

3204 (2TB, 3PC, 7EB, 6DC),
3208 (90N, 3Z) Industrial Engines

Description of Change: A new alternator is used in the charging alternator groups on the above industrial engines. The former Delco-Remy alternator was discontinued by the manufacturer.

Adaptable As: The new 8T9700 Alternator (Nippon Denso) replaces the former 6T1194 Alternator (Delco-Remy) in the charging alternator groups on the above engines. The chart lists the new and former alternator, the charging alternator groups, the engine models, and engine serial number prefixes. When a new 8T9700 Alternator is used to replace a former 6T1194 Alternator:

... The wire that was connected to terminal 2 of the former alternator (see the illustration) is not used with the new alternator.
... The diode in the line that was connected to terminal 1 of the former alternator (see the illustration) is not required for the new alternator. The new alternator will work with the diode present, but the diode is not needed.
... The alternator terminal, identified as "1" in the illustration, is marked "1G" on the new alternator.
