Engine Oil Refill Capacity Decreased

Description of Change: The engine oil refill capacity for 3208 NA Marine Engines has been reduced from 14 L (15 qt, 12.5 Imperial qt) to 12 L (13 qt, 11 Imperial qt). This capacity includes oil for a filter change. (The capacity for the turbocharged marine engines, 1Z1-Up, has not changed.) In some applications, the additional oil can cause oil to go through the PCV valve and result in engine slobbering.

NOTE: On Page 32 of the referenced Guide, write a note that the refill for engines, 75V1-Up, has been reduced to 12 L (13 qt, 11 Imperial qt). Use this article to change the marks on the dipsticks. Also, refer to the fourth paragraph of the Reference Article and delete the reference to NA engines. These engines now have a smaller refill capacity than turbocharged 3208 Marine Engines, and thus the dipstick marking dimensions are no longer the same.

Adaptable To: This change is effective with 3208 NA Marine Engine, 75V9266. The smaller refill capacity can be used in all earlier 3208 NA Marine Engines. The dipstick (4N4542 Gauge) must be recalibrated as listed in the appropriate chart and shown in the illustration. Stamp out the former marks.

The new markings in the charts are for the existing 4N4542 Oil Level Gauge (Dipstick), with the 4N4475 Front Sump Oil Pan Assembly, and the 6N373 Oil Level Guide Tube.

The tilt angles listed in the charts are the angles at which the engine can be installed in the boat. A positive angle means the front of the engine is raised.
