New O-Ring Seals Used In Water Lines

Usage:

3500 Family Of Engines

Description of Change: Different O-Ring seals are used in the various water lines groups for the 3500 Family of Engines. The new seals are made from Ethylene Propylene Diene Modified (EPDM) rubber. The new EPDM rubber seals have more resistance to hardening or taking a set. They also are more resistant to wear caused by vibration.

Oil contact with the new EPDM rubber seals must be avoided because they will swell and soften with direct contact to oil, fuel or other petroleum based materials. Oil contamination from handling and assembly can cause the seals to deteriorate. Use water, soapy water or glycerine when handling the seals during assembly.

Adaptable As: The new EPDM rubber seals are direct replacements for the former seals in the above engines. The chart lists the seals frequently used in the above engines and provides a cross reference between the former seals and the new EPDM rubber seals.
