Transmission - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the drive shaft.

  2. Remove the gear pump (transmission charging and scavenge)

  3. Remove the rear chassis support.

  4. Remove the cooling package.

  1. Loosen clamp (1).

  2. Remove clip (2) and remove tube assembly (3).

  3. Remove two bolts (4). Position plate (5) and the hoses out of the way.

  4. Remove hose assemblies (6), (7), and (8).

  5. Remove bolt (10). Disconnect harness assemblies (9) and (11). Loosen bolt (13) and disconnect harness assembly (12).

  6. Loosen clamp (16). Remove nut (15) and position the hose assembly out of the way. Remove clip (14) and remove tube assembly (17).

  7. Disconnect hose assembly (18).

  8. Remove nut (19) and the bolt. Disconnect P-clips (20) and (21).

  9. Remove bolt (23) and spacer (24). Disconnect P-clip (22).

  10. Disconnect hose assembly (25) and position out of the way.

  11. Remove bolt (27). Disconnect P-clip (26) and P-clip (28).

  12. Remove bolt (29) and two bolts (31). Position cover (30) out of the way.

  13. Disconnect hose assemblies (32), (33), and (34).

  14. Remove two bolts (35).

  15. Disconnect clip (37) and hose assembly (36). Disconnect clip (38) and hose assembly (39). Position hose assemblies (36) and (39) out of the way.

  16. Install Tooling (A) onto support (40). Install Tooling (B) onto engine assembly (41). Attach Tooling (C) to Tooling (A) and Tooling (B), to support engine assembly (41). The weight of engine assembly (41) is approximately 1497 kg (3300 lb).

  17. Install Tooling (A) in three locations on transmission assembly (44). Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to transmission assembly (44). The weight of transmission assembly (44) is approximately 807 kg (1780 lb).

  18. Remove two bolts (43) and 12 bolts (42). Remove transmission assembly (44) and the O-ring seal.

  19. Position transmission assembly (44) onto suitable cribbing. Remove suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) from transmission assembly (44).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install transmission assembly (44) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolt (13) to a torque of 7 ± 0.5 N·m (62 ± 4 lb in).
