Rework Procedure

  1. Remove the drain screen.

    1. Remove the screen at the outlet of the drain at the bottom of the container.

Note: Regardless of the condition of the drain, or amount of the water comes out after the screen is removed. It is still necessary to verify that the muffler does not hold water internally as explained in the following steps.

    2. Verify that the drain is clear so that water flows freely from the drain hole in exhaust outlet external sump through to the ground

  2. Drain the water from inside the muffler/silencer if present.

    1. Looking through the exhaust outlet on top of the container, determine if water is present inside the muffler. If water is present, remove the water using a suction pump or siphon.

    2. Drill ¼ inch to ½ inch hole in the baffle. This baffle is accessible through the exhaust outlet. This hole will assure any rain water entering into the muffler through the rain cap will drain to the lower muffler chamber.

Note: The drill bit needs to be 18 inches long.

  3. Drain the water from inside the muffler/silencer.

    1. Remove the catalyst cover, and remove the catalyst to gain access to the lower muffler chamber.

    2. Inspect the inside lower muffler chamber.

    3. If water is present, place a suction hose in the bottom of the muffler chamber and remove all the water using a suction pump or siphon.

  4. Add an extra drain.

    1. Drill a hole to install the 159-1244 Coupling approximately 203.2 mm (8 inch) from the existing drain.

Note: The outside diameter of the coupling is 40.03 mm (1.576 inch).

    2. Weld the 159-1244 Coupling to the muffler chamber.

    3. Install the 8T-6761 Pipe Plug into the coupling.

    4. When the unit is not operating, remove the plug periodically to drain water from muffler.

Note: The water needs to be collected and drained to the outside of the container.
