Rollover Protective Structure (ROPS) - Inspect

Usage:

NOTICE

Do not attempt to straighten the ROPS structure. Do not repair the ROPS by welding reinforcement plates to the structure.

If there are any cracks in the welds, in the castings, or in any metal section of the ROPS, consult your Caterpillar dealer for repairs.

There are four mounting bolts (1) for the ROPS. The mounting bolts are on each side of the cab.

  1. Inspect the ROPS for any loose bolts or any damaged bolts. Replace any damaged bolts or any missing bolts with only the original equipment parts.

  2. If necessary, tighten four mounting bolts (1). Refer to Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications" for the recommended torque.

  3. When you operate the machine on a rough surface, the ROPS may rattle or the ROPS may make a noise. If the ROPS rattles or if the ROPS makes a noise, replace the ROPS mounting supports.
