Note: Repeat the procedure for each cylinder head.
Note: Inspect all seals and O-rings for wear and damage and replace if necessary.
- Clean the surface of the cylinder head and the spacer plate. A new spacer plate gasket must be installed when the cylinder head is removed.

- Install cylinder head gasket.
- Install Tooling (A) on cylinder head (14). Use the holes for the bolts that hold the valve cover base. The cylinder head (14) weighs approximately
41 kg (90 lb) . - Fasten a suitable lifting device to the cylinder head (14).
- Position the cylinder head (14) and brackets, and install bolts (12), (13), and (15).

- Tighten bolts (1–8) in numerical sequence shown to
30 ± 5 N·m (22 ± 4 lb ft) . - Tighten bolts (1–8) in numerical sequence shown to
200 ± 15 N·m (148 ± 11 lb ft) . - Retighten bolts (1–8) in numerical sequence shown to
200 ± 15 N·m (148 ± 11 lb ft) . - Turn bolts (1–8) in numerical sequence shown to an angle of (180 ± 5°).

- Install new gaskets on the exhaust elbow (11) and the air inlet elbow (9).
- Position elbows (9) and (11) and install bolts (8) and (10).
- Tighten bolts (8) on the air inlet elbow (9) to a torque of
47 ± 9 N·m (35 ± 7 lb ft) . - Tighten bolts (10) on the exhaust elbow (11) to a torque of
55 ± 5 N·m (41 ± 4 lb ft) .Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g06161517 - Replace all O-rings on water tube assembly (7).
- Position water tube assembly (7) and install bolts (6).

- Install exhaust temperature sensor (3).

End By:
- Install the rocker shaft assemblies and the push rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Rocker Shaft and Push rods - Install".
