Remove Plastic Plug From Fuel Transfer Pump

Usage:

All 3500 Series Engines

The fuel transfer pumps used on 3500 Series Engines have a 1/8" tapped hole in the side of the pump. See the illustration. This hole is used to make it possible to see any leakage of fuel or oil past the seals in the transfer pump. The supplier of these pumps installs a plastic plug in the hole before the pump is painted. This plastic plug must be removed. If the plug is not removed, fuel or oil which has leaked past the seals, will not be able to flow out of the pump. This will delay a diagnosis of the problem.

These plastic plugs must be removed from the fuel transfer pumps before the engine is put into operation.
