Use Of 9S3265 Retaining Compound On AiResearch Turbocharger Compressor Wheel Retainer Nuts

Usage:

It is our recommendation that 9S3265 Retaining Compound be used on the threads of the compressor retaining nuts during reconditioning of all AiResearch turbochargers. The use of the retaining compound keeps the nut tight and prevents damage to the compressor nut threads and seat face. If the retaining nut becomes loose, it can cause failure.

The nut can be used again, as long as the threads and seat face are in good condition.

After reconditioning, use the procedure that follows during assembly of the cartridge.

1. Put a small amount of lubricant on the nut seat face and shaft threads.

NOTICE

Do not bend or add stress to the shaft when the nut is tightened.

2. Tighten the compressor retaining nut to the correct torque value.

3. Remove the nut and put 6V1541 Primer on the nut threads and the shaft threads that extend through the nut.

NOTICE

Do not let the retaining compound get into the bore of the compressor wheel, because it can make removal of the compressor wheel difficult during future turbocharger disassembly.

4. Put 9S3265 Retaining Compound on the primer. The compound will work its way into the threads.

5. Install the nut and tighten it to the correct torque value to give it a good seat. See the specifications section in the respective Service Manual.

6. Tighten the nut the additional turn specification, as shown in the specifications section of the respective Service Manual.
