Improved Mounting Assembly For Speed Switch Contactor Group

Usage:

Industrial, Marine, Generator Set Engines

Description of Change: The speed switch contactor group on engines, in some applications, uses an improved mounting assembly. The new mounting assembly has four times the load capacity of the former mounting assembly. The new neoprene material of the mounting assembly, also has more resistance to oil and ozone.

A third washer has been added between the switch and the mounting assembly. See the illustration.

Adaptable As: The new 8N9300 Mounting Assembly is a direct replacement for the former assembly. The part number did not change. The new part has the identification 100-PDN-2 marked on it. The former assembly has 100-PDN-A marked on it.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

NOTICE

If the 3K8106 Screws are tightened more than specified, the neoprene material of the mounting assembly will become twisted. The stress that is added will cause early failure of the neoprene material.

1. If access to the 3K8106 Screws is difficult, remove the bracket to which the speed switch is fastened.

2. Remove the speed switch from the bracket.

3. Install the speed switch, 8N9300 Mounting Assemblies, 3K8106 Screws, 4B4863 Washers and 4B2043 Nuts as shown in the illustration.

4. After the above parts are assembled, but before the 3K8106 Screws are tightened, make a mark on the flat part of the mounting assembly, and a mark on the bracket in line with the one on the mounting assembly.

5. Tighten the screw to 1.7 ± 0.2 N·m (15 ± 2 lb in). The mark on the mounting assembly must not move more than 20° away from the mark on the bracket while the screw is being tightened.

6. Install the bracket on the engine.
